Censorship and Self-Censorship

There is an interesting article in today's New York Times online edition. It deals with the censorship of images of war. It compares the withholding of image of Hiroshima by the government back in the forties with the current censorship and self-censorship involved in the Iraqi War. The examples cited are all things I am sure most people have heard about, such as how the pentagon is not allowing images of the caskets of American servicemen or how the images of the charred remains of four American contractors hanging from a bridge were self-censored by many editors. Either way it is good to see that the New York Times has a story about this blatant censorship.

stumbled here through random blog feature... good luck in muncie! i'm from mentor, ohio and just took a job here 2 months ago. still going through a little culture shock, but it's always nice to know there are other displaced buckeyes going through it, too.

Hey thanks for the words of encouragement. As of right now I am still in the Buckeye state...I move to Muncie next week. I just hope I'll be able to watch Buckeyes football somewhere.

good luck on watching anything ohio, unless you're a fan of cincinnatti. course if you're anything like me and other NEO'ers, you would realize cincinnatti isn't "really" ohio, anyway.

hoosiers aren't so bad. they think i talk like i'm from "up north". they're obsessed with basketball, corn, nascar, and other things people from ohio find unusual. there are also very few good bars or places to go out. you'll be disappointed in the night life here, if that's what you're into.

i hope you live off campus... on campus is a really young crowd. i avoid the campus area entirely, if i can help it.

but day trips to indy and ft. wayne are great.
sorry to monopolize your comments area...
